Usage: Any animal replica or puppet
Piecing of fur is the application of backed fur pieces to the body of the puppet or replica. This can be patterned pieces sewn together or glued piece-by-piece to the form. Animal hide, natural fabric backed furs or faux fur can be used.
This is the sturdiest application we have for animal replicas. This method works well on larger areas especially if the fur is long enough to hide the seams. It can be difficult to make realistic looking faces particularly with fabric backed fur. In these cases this method is often used in conjunction with fur transfer and flocking.
The Madame Tussauds camel body for the Lawrence of Arabia exhibit is a good example of piecing of fur.
